Published

The Mayor of Smederevo visited the Textile-Technical and Agricultural School “Despot Đurađ”, formerly the School of Economics, where energy renovation works on the building are in their final phase.

This is a major infrastructure project jointly financed by the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the City of Smederevo, with a total contract price for all the works of RSD 35.7 million excluding VAT.

“This is further proof that when we work together with the line ministries and with the support of the state, there are no obstacles we cannot overcome. Just two months after we began the comprehensive energy renovation of this school, the works are successfully nearing completion. This educational institution will welcome the new school year with a completely new, modern look. The City of Smederevo continuously looks after all the schools in the city. Our aim is for them to be modernised and equipped to modern standards and to offer first-class conditions for learning and working. We firmly believe that investing in education is the safest and most cost-effective investment in the future. Together with the state and President Aleksandar Vučić, we are taking a strategic approach to the education and development of the younger generations, creating an environment in which they can reach their full potential,” the Mayor stressed.

The project is being carried out under the National Programme for the Energy Renovation of Buildings of Public Importance, and its main aim is to increase the energy efficiency of the building, reduce energy consumption and improve working and learning conditions in the school.

The works include thermal insulation of the attic floor structure, external thermal insulation of the façade walls, thermal insulation of the flat roofs and of the overhangs on the outside, and thermal insulation of the attic floor structure, as well as works on the mechanical installations.

The school will thus welcome the new school year more energy-efficient, more functional and with significantly better conditions for pupils and staff.
