On the day before Christmas, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, visited the Home for the Elderly in Smederevo.
By lighting the Yule log, with a programme suited to the festive mood, the staff and residents of the Home for the Elderly traditionally marked Christmas Eve.
Congratulating them on the arrival of one of the most joyful Christian holidays, the Mayor expressed special gratitude to the staff of the Home for the continuous care and help they provide to our older fellow citizens.
She wished the residents of the Home good health, happiness and well-being and presented them with gifts as a token of attention and respect, in the hope that such get-togethers would become more frequent in the coming year.
According to the Director, Ivana Matejić, this residential institution for older people currently has 185 residents, who are looked after by 70 staff. The accommodation units are adapted to the residents’ needs, in order to provide them with the conditions they need for a good-quality stay in the Home.
