The Director of the Port Governance Agency, Vuk Perović, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, and the President of the City Assembly, Milan Perić, today visited the works to clear the water area of the future marina in Smederevo.
On that occasion, Perović recalled that the Agency has invested RSD 50 million in dredging the Smederevo marina.
“The works include removing around 50,000 cubic metres of silt. Once we have removed all the river sediment, we will have met the precondition for the further construction of this nautical facility,” he said.
He announced that the Agency would continue implementing this infrastructure project in the coming period. “We plan to start the second phase of the project next year, that is, to equip the marina with pontoons and put it into operation at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026,” Perović added.
According to him, the marina in Smederevo is one of a total of five marinas to be built under the “Sail Serbia” project.

“Our goal is to make use of Smederevo’s potential and strengthen the nautical sector in Serbia. In addition, we want to increase the share of revenue from nautical tourism in total tourism revenue in our country,” Perović stressed.
The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, pointed out that clearing the water area of Smederevo’s future marina is a clear sign that this city on the Danube is getting ever closer to the start of its construction.
“With the marina, we will be able to make greater use of the potential offered by the River Danube. Our advantage in attracting visitors is the wealth of tourist, cultural, sports and recreational activities held throughout the year, as well as the proximity of Smederevo Fortress, behind which the marina will be located,” said Vojinović.
She added that Smederevo deserves to be a recognisable point on the nautical map of Serbia, Europe and the world and to be connected by water transport with the other towns and cities of the Danube region.
“This infrastructure project will certainly contribute to the development of the economy and tourism not only in Smederevo but in the whole country,” the Mayor concluded.
