Second anniversary of the massacre in Malo Orašje and Dubona marked

Published

A commemoration was held today in Malo Orašje, at the monument in Ravni Gaj, on the site where, two years ago, six young men were killed in a massacre: Petar Mitrović, Nemanja Stevanović, Lazar Milovanović, Marko Mitrović, Aleksandar Milovanović and Nikola Milić.

After the memorial service, through the film “Besmrtni” and the recitation of verses by friends and family members of the young men who were killed, those gathered at the monument in Ravni Gaj remembered young lives cut short far too soon.

Numerous delegations, family members, friends and residents of Malo Orašje laid wreaths and flowers at the memorial to the young men who died so tragically.

A wreath was also laid by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Đuro Macut, accompanied by the Minister of Justice, Nenad Vujić, and the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, as well as members of the Office of the President of the Republic of Serbia.

On behalf of the City of Smederevo, wreaths were laid by the Mayor, Jasmina Vojinović, and the President of the City Assembly, Milan Perić.

“This is not only the pain of the families, this is not only the wound of Malo Orašje. This is the pain and the wound of Smederevo, the pain and the wound of Serbia. Six young lives were extinguished, six smiles disappeared, and with them six futures that were stolen,” said the Mayor, adding that we must never forget the young people who were the victims of the great tragedy that took place in May 2023.

The commemoration of the second anniversary of the deaths of the six young men from Malo Orašje was also attended by the parents of the children who were tragically killed at Primary School “Vladislav Ribnikar” in Belgrade.

After the symbolic release of white balloons, a memorial tournament with ten teams and an exhibition match between veterans of the Serbian national football team and a mixed FK Ravni Gaj team were played at the FK Ravni Gaj stadium in memory of the young men who were killed.

The second anniversary of the deaths of three young people, Milan and Kristina Panić and Dalibor Todorović, who were also victims of the mass murder committed on this day, was also marked in the village of Dubona near Mladenovac.
