River Flotilla promotion for Smederevo secondary school pupils

Published

The ship “Kozara”, built in 1939 and belonging to the River Flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces, sailed into Smederevo today.

It is a special-purpose mother ship whose presence on the Danube this morning attracted a great deal of attention from local residents.

The aim of the visit was to promote the military profession among Smederevo secondary school pupils, and it once again confirmed the excellent cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the local government in Smederevo.

Young people were thus given a unique opportunity to tour the interior of the famous ship “Kozara”, to hear at first hand about the experiences of professional soldiers and officers, and to learn all about employment opportunities, the specific features of service on rivers and the benefits that the profession brings.

They were also joined by Aleksandra Mitić, Member of the City Council responsible for education and culture.

As part of today’s promotion in Smederevo, the River Flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces displayed some of its assets and equipment.

The river units of the Serbian Armed Forces are intended to carry out defence and protection tasks on inland waterways, ensure the safety of navigation and carry out rescues on rivers, canals and lakes, provide assistance to the population in the event of natural disasters and catastrophes, and take part in peacekeeping operations and international military cooperation.
