The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, today welcomed to the City Administration Sara Stokić, who is originally from Smederevo and whom the Football Association of Serbia named Serbia’s most promising female footballer for 2024.
Sara knew from an early age that she would play sport, and at first she played football with boys, before eventually becoming one of the most talented female footballers in our country.
This exceptionally successful young woman, who once played for the football club “Petlić” from Smederevo, now plays for the famous football club “Milan” in Italy, which is the result of great support from her family and of hard work and effort, which always pay off in the end.
“Smederevo is proud of all its talented and successful athletes, and we have proved many times that our city is a city of athletes. In future we will pay more attention to this area in order to provide all the necessary conditions for children who want to play sport,” the Mayor stressed, adding that the main goal is for young people to stay in their city.
Besides the Mayor, the reception was attended by the Director of FK Smederevo 1924, Saša Branežac, Dragan Đorđević, Member of the City Council responsible for sport and youth, and Sara’s father, Vladimir Stokić.
