The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, Dragan Đorđević, Member of the City Council responsible for sport and youth, and Veselin Savić, President of the Smederevo Sports Association, today met participants in the fourth Smederevo Village Sports Games in the Blue Hall of the City Administration and presented them with sports equipment in recognition of their participation in the event, which was held in Radinac at the beginning of the summer.
As a reminder, four villages took part in the competition: Osipaonica, Lugavčina, Vodanj and Radinac, which, with 44 points, triumphed in seven of the ten disciplines. This enabled the Radinac men’s and women’s teams to go on to the Inter-regional Competition in Požarevac, where they took fourth place among numerous competing teams.
“It is my honour and pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the City of Smederevo and in my own name, and to congratulate the Radinac team on winning fourth place at the Inter-regional Competition in Požarevac, where you represented us successfully.
In the coming period we will put more effort into organising the Smederevo Village Sports Games and take them to a higher level, because through sport we are fighting for a healthy lifestyle for our descendants and our children.
Our obligation, mine as Mayor and that of my associates, is to fight for healthier younger generations, because they are the one true value and wealth we have.
The sports equipment we are presenting today to the teams that took part in the Smederevo Village Sports Games this summer is also an invitation to organise them on a larger scale next year, to involve as many local communities as possible, to add some new disciplines, to let the competition last a day or so longer, and to make it a fine event that will become an integral part of life in the City of Smederevo,” the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, said as she welcomed the guests at the reception.
