The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, and Aleksandra Mitić, Member of the City Council responsible for education and culture, today visited Primary School “Ivo Andrić” in Radinac.
Because of a long-standing problem with the roof, works were carried out at the school during the summer holidays on part of the roof covering and on the interior of the hall, where five wooden beams were replaced.
Repairs to the roof covering over the gym are currently under way, so that this part of the school is also protected from possible leaks.
“In the coming period, a project for the complete reconstruction of this school needs to be drawn up, and for us this is a priority in creating adequate conditions for the functioning of educational institutions in the territory of the City of Smederevo,” the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, said after visiting Primary School “Ivo Andrić” in Radinac, which currently has 465 pupils in 21 classes.
The school opened on 5 September 1980. It has 3,300 square metres of space, 14 classrooms, three specialist classrooms and a gym with stands. It also runs two satellite schools, in Ralja and Vrbovac.
