“Smederevo is ready for the start of the new heating season, and there will be no increase in heating prices for users this winter,” the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, announced at today’s press conference.
“Should there be any changes in prices on the oil market, the City of Smederevo will step in with PE “Grejanje”, so heating users need not worry on that score. We have contracts with NIS and Jugopetrol, and stocks stand at 4,000 tonnes, which is generally enough for the whole heating season, especially considering that 3,200 tonnes were used last winter.
As for the suppliers, prices are not fixed. The “Grejanje” company receives a heavy fuel oil price list every Monday, because the price depends on the market, which has been stable recently, and we hope that prices for our public enterprise will stay the same at least until the New Year, as set out in the contract we signed.
We currently have 350 tonnes of heavy fuel oil stored in our tanks, and another 140 tonnes will be delivered in a few days. These quantities ensure uninterrupted heating for four to six weeks from the start of the season.
Hot tests of the PE “Grejanje” system are expected on 13 and 14 October, but they will start earlier if necessary,” the Mayor explained, pointing out that at the start of the heating season the City will help families in social need, as well as pensioners with the lowest pensions, with eight thousand dinars. RSD 15 million has been allocated from the city budget for this purpose. Applications for this type of assistance opened on 1 September.
From 15 October, four Smederevo schools will be heated with gas instead of heavy fuel oil: the Grammar School, the Economics School, the Technical School and Primary School “Branislav Nušić”, and a procurement procedure for the energy renovation of the “Hajdi” kindergarten in the city centre, which will also get a gas boiler, will be launched in the coming days, which, according to the Mayor, Jasmina Vojinović, is a contribution of its own to the fight for a healthier environment.
