Children’s Week is being marked in Smederevo from 7 to 13 October with a series of entertaining, educational and musical programmes, sports competitions and quizzes involving kindergarten children and primary and secondary school pupils.
The aim of this event, the most important national event dedicated to children, is to draw public attention to the real position of children and young people in the community and to their rights and needs, to promote the active participation of children in decisions that concern them, and to launch initiatives and new actions that help improve the position of children.
This year the event is taking place under the motto “I am a child, I have a plan: tolerance and love for every day”.

Children’s Week in Smederevo began today with the art workshop “Love and Tolerance”. Preschoolers and primary school pupils, helped by their class teachers and art teachers, painted T-shirts on the City Square. For the city’s youngest residents, this was an opportunity to use their artistic skills to express how they show respect for their peers and for older people. They were supported in this by the city leadership, headed by the Mayor, Jasmina Vojinović, who spent the morning talking and spending time with the children.
Children’s Week continues tomorrow with sports and recreational activities on the square. Taking part are preschool children from the “Bambi”, “Hajdi”, “Bubamara”, “Kockica” and “Sanjalica” facilities. A lecture on combating human trafficking will be held for secondary school pupils in the Concert Hall of the Smederevo Cultural Centre.
The remaining days until the end of the event will also be filled with numerous activities dedicated to children, and on Sunday, 13 October, Leontina will give a concert for our youngest citizens on the City Square at 12:00.
