A commemorative gathering was held today in Lipe near Smederevo to mark 25 years since two air defence officers were killed in the NATO aggression: Lieutenant Colonel Blagoje Radić and Captain First Class Robert Lajčak.
Wreaths were laid today at the memorial erected on the spot where they were killed by representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces, family members of the fallen, and numerous associations and organisations.

On behalf of the local government, wreaths were laid by the Deputy Mayor of Smederevo, Vladimir Nešić, and Ivana Matejić, Member of the City Council responsible for family care and population policy.
Lieutenant Colonel Peter Robar, Commander of the First Air Defence Missile Battalion of the Serbian Armed Forces, spoke to those present about the heroism of Blagoje Radić and Robert Lajčak.
“The sacrifice of Blagoje and Robert must not be forgotten. We must remember them, not only on the day they were killed but every day, and tell younger generations about their heroism so that they never forget the crime committed against our people and our state in the NATO aggression of 1999,” Lieutenant Colonel Peter Robar said at the commemorative gathering in Lipe.
