A Job Fair was held in Smederevo today, organised by the Smederevo branch of the National Employment Service with the support of the City.
It took place in the foyer of the Cultural Centre, with 17 employers taking part, who expressed a need to hire 308 people.
The most sought-after workers included mechanical and electrical engineers, metalworkers, welders, electricians, bakers, production operators, crane operators and warehouse workers, as well as several administrative staff.

Greeting those present, Zoran Martinović, Director of the National Employment Service, stressed the importance of such direct meetings between unemployed people and employers. He said that 65 job fairs were held in Serbia last year, attended by around 1,700 employers, with close to 20,000 vacancies advertised.
“The effects of the fairs held in 2023 can be seen in the employment of 10,000 people,” Martinović said, adding that this year RSD 7.75 billion has been allocated from the budget for various active employment policy measures in Serbia, which is expected to bring 23,000 people into direct employment incentives.
The fair was declared open by Jasmina Vojinović, Mayor of Smederevo, who stressed that this year the local government has allocated RSD 17 million from the budget for employment incentives, because the priority programmes of the Local Action Plan of the City of Smederevo are aimed at implementing all measures that can help reduce the number of unemployed citizens.
