The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, and Slaviša Stošić, Member of the City Council responsible for finance and local economic and business development, today visited the Old Industrial Zone, home to the pioneers of Smederevo’s modern economy.
The visit followed a recent meeting with them and the concrete activities already under way in the area, which concern the improvement of plots owned by the City of Smederevo.
“A few days ago we talked with our businesspeople about improving the conditions for their operations in this industrial park, additional infrastructure and the proper improvement of the available sites that we can offer them.
We have very quickly moved from words to deeds: the area is already being tidied up these days, and we want to bring it into decent condition. Our PUC “Zelenilo i groblja” has been engaged for this work, and the works are progressing well.
Our aim is to preserve the existing business capacity and also to expand it. This will certainly contribute to the economic development of our city and to employment for our fellow citizens,” the Mayor said.
At this new meeting with Mayor Jasmina Vojinović and City Council Member Slaviša Stošić, representatives of companies from the Old Industrial Zone agreed that, through shared ideas and action with the support of the local government, they can contribute to stronger economic development in Smederevo, and some of them are already considering future expansion of their production capacity.
