Training on recognising cases of human trafficking and supporting victims

Published

A training session entitled “Recognising Cases of Human Trafficking and Supporting Victims” was held today at the City Administration in Smederevo. It was organised by the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Centre for the Protection of Victims of Human Trafficking, with the support of projects of the International Organization for Migration and German Development Cooperation (GIZ).

The main aim of the training was for participants to learn more about this subject and to acquire new skills and knowledge that would enable them to provide support and assistance to victims.

“Each of us can play an important role in the protection system, because we are aware that no institution can do it alone. Together we are stronger in putting a stop to human trafficking,” said Nataša Veličković, member of the Local Coordination Team for Combating Human Trafficking of the City of Smederevo, among other things.

The subject was addressed by representatives of the Centre for the Protection of Victims of Human Trafficking, Miroslav Jovanović and Jelena Živojinović, and by Slađana Čabrić from the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.

The participants in the training included representatives of services and organisations in the fields of the judiciary, education, human and social rights and other relevant institutions in Smederevo, who had the opportunity to take an active part and discuss the subject.
