The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, today held talks with the Director of the Port Governance Agency, Vuk Perović, on the marina infrastructure project in Smederevo.
On that occasion, Perović said that the Agency had launched an investment in dredging the future Smederevo marina.
“In the coming period we will allocate RSD 50 million for clearing the water area of the marina in Smederevo, which is a precondition for building this nautical facility. Smederevo is one of the locations covered by the capital project ‘Sail Serbia’.”
According to him, the Agency initiated the project in view of our country’s considerable nautical potential.

“How comprehensive the project is can be seen from the fact that the most important institutions in Serbia are taking part in its implementation, and it is a good example of state cooperation on developing infrastructure and nautical tourism. Under the project, five marinas and new international passenger ports will be built on the Danube, and we will develop scheduled and canal navigation. As is well known, the first phase of construction of the marina in Veliko Gradište is under way, and a contract has also been signed for building the Golubac marina. In addition, we will build marinas in Smederevo, Sombor and Kladovo.
Our aim is to give the cities on the banks of the Sava and the Danube, Smederevo among them, a prominent position on the nautical maps of Europe and the world,” Perović said.
“Building a marina in Smederevo is a long-held dream of the people of Smederevo, and it is a project we strongly support. Today’s meeting with representatives of the Port Governance Agency included talks on which preconditions we need to secure first, and one of them is certainly clearing the marina’s water area. The immediate proximity of the Fortress and the many tourism, sports, recreational and cultural events we organise in the city are our advantages in attracting visitors who can reach Smederevo by sailing along the river.
Building a marina in Smederevo is a sure way for us as a city to find a place on the nautical map of Europe and to make better use of all the potential the Danube offers us,” the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, said.
After the meeting, she and the Director of the Port Governance Agency, Vuk Perović, visited the site of the future marina, which will be located in the immediate vicinity of Smederevo Fortress. They agreed that this infrastructure project will contribute to the further development of the economy and tourism in Smederevo.
