To mark Red Cross Week, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, today visited voluntary blood donors taking part in the blood drive held every Monday and on the last Thursday of the month at the Sports Hall.
“It is precisely thanks to your generosity and response that the City of Smederevo has several times in a row received the Champion of Solidarity plaque, an award that belongs to each and every one of you.
You are the quiet heroes of Smederevo, and your generosity is priceless. The City will always stand by you, nurturing the values that make us human,” said the Mayor, congratulating them on their humanity and on the awards presented today to multiple donors as part of the voluntary blood donation drive.
On that occasion, she also highlighted the important role of the Red Cross Smederevo, the Blood Transfusion Institute and all the volunteers who take part in organising the drives, whose main aim is to save human lives.
Among today’s voluntary blood donors was Nenad Vojić, who gave blood for the 110th time, setting an example for other fellow citizens to join this humane mission.
