Published

At a fitting gathering in the assembly hall of the City Administration in Smederevo, where equipment was also handed out, pupils from Smederevo’s primary and secondary schools who qualified for this prestigious competition through their sporting results were given a send-off this evening to the Twelfth School Olympic Games.

“The Games are being held in Novi Sad from 24 to 30 May, and 232 pupils from Smederevo schools will take part, with the support of 24 teachers who prepared them for the competition,” said Sandra Papić, Chair of the Management Board of the Smederevo School Sports Association, stressing on that occasion that the organisation enjoys great support from the City.

This was also confirmed by Dragan Đorđević, Member of the City Council responsible for sport and youth, who expressed the hope that the Smederevo team would return from the competition with prizes and medals.

“The City of Smederevo supports the work of the School Sports Association and values the full dedication of the teachers who work with Smederevo’s youngest athletes. We are delighted that competitors from Smederevo schools will be defending our city’s colours at the forthcoming School Olympic Games in Novi Sad,” the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, said when addressing the pupils and teachers. She wished the competitors the best results in fair competition.
