Published

Members of the International Police Association (IPA) from Greece and Poland are currently staying in Smederevo, having come to our city at the invitation of the National Section of the Police Association in Serbia and the Podunavlje region.

A reception was organised for them today at the City Administration, where they were welcomed by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, together with her assistants Vesna Kiš Kostić and Branko Milanović and the Head of the City Administration, Goran Milentijević.

On that occasion, she wished the guests a pleasant stay in our city.

“The local government supports the fostering of friendly ties with the peoples of the countries in our region, and meetings like this contribute to that,” the Mayor said.

On behalf of the National Section of the Police Association in Serbia, its Vice-President Perica Milovanović, who is also president of the association for the Podunavlje region, thanked the hosts for the welcome.

He recalled that such organised gatherings have been taking place for many years and that members of the Serbian association have been invited on return visits to their Greek and Polish colleagues.

On behalf of the IPA association from Zakynthos, its president Haralabos Andriopus thanked the City of Smederevo and their colleagues from Serbia for the warm welcome, as did Andrej Koziol on behalf of the IPA association from the Polish town of Kalwaria.

Together with the Governor of Zakynthos, Katarina Mofonelo, they invited the leadership of the City of Smederevo to visit that Ionian island next September. The International Police Association (IPA) is an international professional organisation, founded in 1950, which on the basis of its aims has consultative status with the Council of Europe and the UN. Its motto is “Service through Friendship”. It brings together over 500 thousand members from more than 70 countries around the world.
