Promoting the military profession

Published

A Career Guidance Fair, organised by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in cooperation with the National Employment Service, has opened on the city square in Smederevo.

The event is intended for primary and secondary school pupils and for unemployed persons registered with the National Employment Service.
Visitors to the fair have the opportunity to learn about the education, employment and professional development opportunities in the defence system of the Republic of Serbia, as well as about the various military professions and specialisations.

Representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces are presenting equipment, assets and some of their activities, while interested citizens can talk directly to members of the armed forces and find out about the conditions for admission to military schools and units.
The fair was also visited by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, who stressed the importance of such activities for promoting the military profession among young people, and for providing new opportunities for employment and career guidance.

“I am extremely pleased that Smederevo is hosting the Career Guidance Fair, organised jointly by the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces and the National Employment Service.

This event is an excellent opportunity for our pupils who are planning their future and choosing a vocation, and for fellow citizens on the unemployment register who are looking for secure employment and a stable career.

The military profession combines genuine patriotism, a high level of professionalism and continuous training, which is why the City of Smederevo strongly supports initiatives like this.

Being a soldier means performing the most honourable duty of defending your country, safeguarding the peace, freedom and security of all our citizens.

In line with the decisions and announcements of the state leadership and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the state is continuously investing in modernising the military, improving the living standards of members of the armed forces and strengthening the country’s defence capabilities.

That is precisely why our citizens and pupils have been given the opportunity to learn first-hand about the military profession, the ways of training for it, its benefits and the secure employment opportunities guaranteed by the state,” the Mayor said while touring the fair.
