Today NALED and GIZ held a presentation of the results and best practices in drafting development plans as the umbrella document of local government. Over the past year, ten local government units (Velika Plana, the City Municipality of Palilula in Niš, Despotovac, Zaječar, Ivanjica, Kladovo, Loznica, Ljig, Smederevo and Subotica) defined a vision, objectives and measures for faster economic progress and for creating better living and working conditions for citizens and businesses in their communities.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Beč, the Head of the Local Economic Development Office, Slavica Milovanović, and Darko Radojković.
As a reminder, in April 2022 the City applied to NALED’s Public Call for local government units to take part in the project “Support for Capacity Building and the Drafting of Local Development Plans”; the aim of the call was to identify and select ten local government units to receive technical support in building their capacity in the process of drafting a development plan in line with the legislation. Then, in June 2022, the City signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with GIZ and NALED with the aim of providing technical support in the process of drafting the Development Plan, based on the principle of including all stakeholders. This was followed by workshops at which guidance was given on the next steps in the process of drafting the Development Plan.
After a little less than a year, we can announce that from 15 May to 5 June 2023 a Public Consultation will be held on the website of the City of Smederevo for the purposes of drafting the Development Plan of the City of Smederevo for the period from 2022 to 2029. At the web address https://smederevo.ls.gov.rs/plan-razvoja-grada-smedereva you can find the Draft Development Plan of the City of Smederevo. We hereby invite citizens, associations, experts and the wider public to take part in the public consultation process. You can submit your proposals, suggestions, initiatives and comments to the City Administration of the City of Smederevo on a special form available on the website of the City of Smederevo: https://smederevo.ls.gov.rs/plan-razvoja-grada-smedereva/

The Mayor’s Office will keep the public informed of all the steps to be taken in the coming period regarding the drafting of the Development Plan.
