The Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Nataša Stanisavljević, together with the Minister of Public Investment, Darko Glišić, today presented contracts to 73 local self-government units at the Palace of Serbia for the continued provision of housing and improvement of living conditions for refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees under readmission agreements.
The contract was signed on behalf of the City of Smederevo by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović.

“With the signing of today’s contract with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, our state and our city are continuing to take important steps towards creating more dignified living conditions for refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as for returnees under readmission agreements.
The joint funds of the Commissariat and the City of Smederevo will be directed to two key programmes: the programme for the purchase of rural houses with a garden plot and the programme for the allocation of assistance packages of building materials and equipment to improve housing conditions.
In this way, the local government shows that it remains committed to the goal that every person, regardless of the circumstances that brought them to our city, has the right to a life of human dignity,” the Mayor said after signing the contract, thanking the Commissariat for its many years of continuous support to Smederevo.
The City of Smederevo will soon publish public calls for refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as returnees under readmission agreements, who wish to apply for the purchase of a rural house with a garden plot or for the allocation of building materials and equipment.
