Contract signed for the project to reconstruct Karađorđeva Street in Smederevo

Published

In the presence of the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Đuro Macut, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Aleksandra Sofronijević, today signed in Belgrade a grant agreement under the Local Infrastructure Development and Institutional Strengthening of Local Governments Project, relating to the forthcoming reconstruction of Karađorđeva Street in Smederevo.

“This is a good example of how a local government, together with the state and the line ministry, can achieve goals that help create better living conditions for citizens in local communities.

With the reconstruction of Karađorđeva Street, Smederevo will gain a modern, wider and safer road in the city centre, with a new carriageway, pavements and parking areas.

The project includes the landscaping of green spaces and a complete reconstruction of the street lighting, so that once all the works are completed our city’s main thoroughfare will not only have a new look but will also be much more functional,” the Mayor said after signing the contract.

The value of the investment is around RSD 250 million.

The project is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the French Development Agency, and is being implemented by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
