Contracts on the allocation of assistance in the form of building materials and equipment for completing or adapting the homes of internally displaced persons were presented today at the City Administration in Smederevo.
The contracts went to seven families of internally displaced persons living in the territory of the City of Smederevo who had previously applied for this type of assistance.
“In this way, the local government in Smederevo remains committed to the goal that every person, regardless of the circumstances that brought them to our city, has the right to a life of dignity,” said the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, when presenting the contracts, stressing that Smederevo will continue to support the most vulnerable families among refugees, displaced persons during their displacement and returnees under readmission agreements.
“We provide this form of support following the example of our state, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, which shows constant care for all citizens, and especially for those in social need,” the Mayor added.
On the basis of the contracts recently signed with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, new public calls are soon expected for the purchase of firewood with transport, food packages, building materials and equipment to improve housing conditions, and for the purchase of rural houses with garden plots for the most vulnerable families of refugees, internally displaced persons during their displacement and returnees under readmission agreements living in the territory of the City of Smederevo, and the citizens of Smederevo will be informed of this in good time on the official website of the City.
