Works are currently being carried out at the beginning and end of Vojvode Đuše Street in Smederevo as part of the regular maintenance of roads and streets. Damaged concrete paving blocks are being removed and replaced with granite setts. PUC “Parking servis” Smederevo has been engaged for the job, and RSD 700,000 has been allocated from the city coffers for the works.

The earlier reconstruction of the street was completed in mid-2020 and was financed with funds provided by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia and the City of Smederevo. RSD 13.5 million (excluding VAT) was allocated for that investment.

After that, the street was meant to be closed to traffic, except for ambulances.

Because irresponsible citizens continued to park their vehicles there, the concrete paving blocks, which are not designed for vehicle traffic, were damaged. After three attempts at repair, it was decided to replace them these days with more durable granite setts. The works currently under way are expected to be completed by 5 March.

The City of Smederevo appeals to citizens not to use Vojvode Đuše Street to park their vehicles in future.
