Visiting the “Hajdi” kindergarten today, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, and her associates saw for themselves on site, also through talks with the contractor, how the energy renovation of the building is progressing.
The “Hajdi” kindergarten in Smederevo, which also houses the administration of Preschool Institution “Naša radost”, was built in 1972 and, apart from routine maintenance, has not undergone any major works since then.
“The City of Smederevo is committed to improving the living conditions of all citizens and pays special attention to its youngest residents, especially when it comes to creating good and safe conditions for children in the facilities of Preschool Institution “Naša radost”.
With the support of the state, and following the responsible policy of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, we have recently begun, with joint funding from the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the City of Smederevo, the project to improve the energy efficiency of the “Hajdi” kindergarten building.
We expect this building to be fully ready by the beginning of September for children to attend safely, to the satisfaction of their parents, preschool teachers and all staff,” says the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović.

The total value of the project is RSD 40 million.
Improving the energy efficiency of the “Hajdi” building involves converting the boiler room from heating oil to natural gas and replacing the worn-out windows, doors and façade.
Construction works, the installation of thermal insulation on the façade and the dismantling of the old boiler room are currently under way.
Because of the works, the children from the central kindergarten have been moved to other kindergartens in the city, making sure that children from the same family are in the same building, except for those in nursery groups.
“The City of Smederevo is facing a shortage of kindergarten capacity, but as a local government that cares about all citizens, we are determined to eliminate the waiting list, and our task is to secure the money to build new facilities,” the Mayor stressed, announcing that from September the “Hajdi” kindergarten will have a new look, with more attractive and better-organised spaces.
In addition to the works defined in the project, further works at the City’s expense are planned for the building so that it is completely refurbished, including the renovation of the existing terraces and yard.
