Just ten days or so after the first river cruise ship, the “Vivaldi”, sailed into our city, what the Mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Beč, announced is happening today. Three cruise ships carrying around four hundred tourists have docked at the international passenger port in Smederevo today. The tourists will spend two days in Smederevo and will have the opportunity to visit the Fortress, the Square in Smederevo and the Church of St George, and in their free time they will also be able to visit the city’s restaurants and cafés.
“Three tourist ships are docking here today, which is significant for our city. There are around four hundred tourists in total, from Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, the United States, Britain, Canada and Switzerland. As I have stressed many times, Smederevo has great tourism potential, which must be put to proper use, all with the aim of promoting our city in the right way. We expect a significant number of tourist visits, that is, cruise ship dockings, during 2024,” Mayor Beč stressed in his statement.
As previously stressed, a major role in this project, to which the Mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Beč, made a great contribution, is played by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which is implementing the “Sail Serbia” project, under which canal and road transport will be developed.
