Ahead of the start of the second term, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, today held a meeting with the Council of Head Teachers of Smederevo primary and secondary schools and with the management of the Preschool Institution “Naša radost”.
The discussion covered the schools’ readiness for the start of lessons, the forthcoming St Sava Celebrations and the traditional marking of St Sava’s Day in schools.
Priority tasks were also highlighted on the way to creating even better and more suitable conditions for learning and work in all school buildings and kindergartens.
“In this year’s city budget, we have allocated enough money for the normal functioning of Smederevo’s schools.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and other ministries, we will try to equip and refurbish them further, because the local government’s aim is modernised educational institutions with a stimulating environment for pupils and staff,” the Mayor stressed, inviting the head teachers to draw up, in the coming period, a list of priority works to be carried out in the schools during the summer holidays.
There was also discussion of positive examples of good cooperation between Smederevo schools and the Preschool Institution “Naša radost”, to which a letter of invitation with proposed joint activities was sent this January.
