Today the City of Smederevo welcomed the State Secretary at the Ministry of Sport, Ratko Nikolić, and the President and the Secretary General of the Sports Association of Serbia, Davor Štefanek and Goran Marinković.
At a reception at the City Administration hosted by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, and attended by the President of the Smederevo Sports Association, Veselin Savić, the talks covered current projects and priorities in sport, the further development of sports infrastructure and ways of strengthening support for sports clubs and young athletes.
Particular emphasis was placed on improving training conditions for children and young people and on promoting sport as an important part of life in local communities.
“Smederevo is a city of sport and athletes. We fund 103 sports organisations, which through their programmes contribute to the improvement of sport, physical culture and recreation and to the development of sports activities for adults, children and young people.
In line with the state policy pursued by our President, Aleksandar Vučić, we want to support them, and at the centre of everything we do is every person, especially every family, and most important to us is every child.
For a child to lead a healthy life, they must play a sport, and it is up to us to give them support,” the Mayor said, among other things.
The State Secretary at the Ministry of Sport, Ratko Nikolić, and the President of the Sports Association of Serbia, Davor Štefanek, praised the City of Smederevo’s attitude towards athletes and its efforts to create good conditions for the youngest generations in the local community to take part in sport.
Among them, there will certainly in future be some who, as exceptional talents, will represent the City of Smederevo and the Republic of Serbia at various competitions, was the shared hope of the participants in today’s meeting.
