The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, and Dragan Đorđević, Member of the City Council responsible for sport, hosted a reception at the City Administration for the competitors and coach of the MMA Club “Fanatik”.
The reception was held in recognition of the outstanding results of the members of this club, which has been named the best MMA club in the country for the fifth year in a row.
Coming to the reception, accompanied by coach Nikola Vasiljević, were national team member Anastasija Rajković, European runner-up Mirko Dardić, and the current national champions and national cup winners Stevo Pilipović, Filip Radojković, Mihajlo Miladinović and Luka Mirković.
Mayor Jasmina Vojinović congratulated them on their continued success on the domestic and international stage.
“The success that our athletes from this club continually achieve in various competitions is no accident; it is the result of enormous effort, sacrifice and talent.
Playing sport is crucial to the healthy development of every young person.
Sport not only builds champions on the field, it also teaches lessons in teamwork, discipline and fair play.
The City of Smederevo will continue to support its athletes,” the Mayor said, adding that the medals won at national and international competitions confirm that they often act as ambassadors of a kind, proudly carrying the flag of Serbia and the name of the City of Smederevo.
Member of the City Council Dragan Đorđević said that the local government closely follows the work of sports organisations and values the successes they achieve.
The Smederevo martial arts academy “Fanatik” is now regarded as one of the leading academies in the country, and its fighters regularly compete for the Serbian national team at the IMMAF World and European Championships.
