Nine more contracts for the purchase of flats awarded

Published

Today, at the City Administration of Smederevo, nine more contracts for the purchase of flats at Jozefa Šulca 10 were awarded. The contracts were presented by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Beč, who talked to the citizens on this occasion.

As a reminder, after the residential building was constructed and the Beneficiary Selection Commission carried out the procedure for leasing housing units for a fixed term with an option to purchase, the City of Smederevo concluded housing unit lease contracts with twenty people for a period of six months. When that period expired, eleven tenants applied to buy their flats, and once the procedure had been completed, contracts for the sale and purchase of the flats were concluded with them, with the option of paying the purchase price in three hundred monthly instalments at an interest rate of zero per cent. When their lease contracts expired, the remaining nine tenants applied to lease the flats for a further six months, after which they too applied to buy the flats.

Those present were addressed by Zoran Milošević on behalf of the Department for Property and Legal Affairs and Utility Services. He congratulated the citizens on having, after years of waiting, fulfilled their dream of getting homes of their own, where they can live with their families in their own city.

“I am pleased to see you today at City Hall on this occasion. We saw each other in October 2021, when you moved into your flats under the six-month lease contracts you had signed. After that period, the conditions were in place for you to buy these flats, in accordance with the Law on Refugees, in three hundred monthly instalments without interest. Last year eleven families took up this opportunity; we signed contracts with them and they are now already the owners of those flats.

I have had the opportunity to talk to them, and they are pleased because, after many difficult moments in the past, they have got homes of their own. Now the conditions are in place for us to sign these contracts with the remaining nine families as well. On behalf of the City, I congratulate you once again, and I want to stress that the doors of City Hall are always open to you and that, as Mayor, I am always at your disposal,” Mayor Beč said in his address to those present.

After that, the Mayor talked to the citizens about how much these flats mean to them in providing homes for their families, and about their gratitude, above all, to the City, which took them in and provided them with the conditions they need for life.
