As the envoy of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, Dragan Glamočić, the current Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, today visited the Smederevo village of Drugovac.
Today Drugovac hosted the 26th traditional event “Days of Agriculture and Hunting”, which brought together many local residents, farmers, hunters and guests. This year’s event was given particular significance by the visit of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Prof. Dr Dragan Glamočić, who conveyed to the leadership of the City of Smederevo and the villagers the messages of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, about the state’s intentions regarding investment in agriculture and support for producers.

In addition to the local residents, the President’s envoy, Minister Glamočić, was welcomed by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, the Deputy Mayor, Vladimir Nešić, and the President of the City Assembly, Milan Perić.
On that occasion, they toured the stalls of exhibitors of fruit, vegetables, honey and wine, as well as the stalls of women’s associations.
At the meeting with the city leadership and the producers, the importance of investing in agriculture was highlighted.
There was also discussion of current projects and subsidies that contribute to a better position for producers, rural development and the preservation of villages.
“This year the state has paid farmers more than RSD 85 billion, or over 80 per cent of the funds earmarked for incentives. This is money that has already reached the holdings and has been invested in new production.
Our goal is a stronger and more competitive Serbian agriculture that can earn on the domestic and world markets, and we already have results showing that this potential exists.
Drugovac and the Smederevo area have a serious agricultural tradition and people who know how to produce.
We could see that today at the stalls of local producers. Our job is to give people like this even more reason to invest and increase production,” said Minister Glamočić.

“The event ‘Days of Agriculture and Hunting’ has shown once again how important tradition, agriculture and rural life are to the identity of the Smederevo area.
Gatherings like this are an opportunity to promote local producers, agricultural potential and the values that have been preserved and passed on for generations.
The visit to Drugovac by Minister Glamočić, envoy of President Aleksandar Vučić, confirms that the state recognises the importance of agriculture and the Serbian village, and the need to gain first-hand insight into the needs and challenges of citizens and farmers by talking to them,” said the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, who then visited Primary School “Svetitelj Sava” in Drugovac with the guest.
