The Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, held a meeting with representatives of the Association of Parents and Guardians of Children and Young People with Disabilities Smederevo. They discussed the possibilities of finding suitable premises for the operation and activities of the Association, which has existed for 12 years.
The meeting also discussed improving conditions for greater accessibility and visibility of persons with disabilities in Smederevo, and the exercise of rights in the fields of social and health protection. To this end, concrete steps were agreed that will give the families of persons with disabilities additional security.
“Every person matters to us, and we pay particular attention to vulnerable groups of the population, especially children and young people with disabilities, who need our support and understanding, and also to their parents and guardians, who face numerous challenges every day. The local government will continue to be a reliable partner in meeting their needs, seeking to broaden the range of social protection services and further improve their quality of life. We have exceptionally good cooperation with the competent national institutions in the field of social protection, to which the Republic of Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, pays particular attention. This is also confirmed by the recently adopted Law on Parent Carers and Carers,” said the Mayor, Jasmina Vojinović.
