Accompanied by representatives of the supervisory body, the Preschool Institution “Naša radost” and Local Community Radinac, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Beč, and his team today toured the newly built kindergarten in Radinac to see for themselves that the building is ready to admit children.
“I am truly delighted that only a year after the foundation stone was laid for this kindergarten, we can say that it is finished. It is now also the most prestigious building of our preschool institution, and once it obtains the licence issued by the Ministry of Education and the occupancy permit, which we expect in mid-November, it will be ready to open its doors to 330 little ones at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
We expect construction of the kindergarten in Skobalj to be completed by the end of the year, and the problem of the missing connections for the kindergarten in Drugovac, which the contractor must provide, to be resolved soon,” said Mayor Beč, adding that Smederevo owes its gratitude for the construction of the kindergarten in Radinac to the Republic of Serbia, the Government and the Ministry of Education.
The representative of the supervisory body, Nenad Urošević from PE “Urbanizam”, informed those present about the details of the building, which has a total area of 1,600 square metres.
“The kindergarten has 13 group rooms for children, 8 of which are on the ground floor for children up to the age of 3 and 5 on the upper floor for older children. There are also a distribution kitchen, a boiler room, offices for the teachers, a doctor’s room, a large multi-purpose hall, toilets, and a nicely landscaped and fenced playground where the little ones can play safely,” Nenad Urošević explained.
According to Mirjana Krstić, Director of the Preschool Institution “Naša radost”, around 3,300 children currently attend Smederevo’s kindergartens, while around 350 little ones are on the waiting list and will finally be able to enrol once the kindergartens in Radinac, Skobalj and Drugovac open.
The total value of the investment in building the kindergarten in Radinac is RSD 184 million, of which 177 million was provided from a World Bank loan, while the City of Smederevo allocated 7 million.
The foundation stone for the kindergarten was laid on 4 August 2022.
