The Minister of Public Investment, Darko Glišić, visited Smederevo today.
The occasion was a discussion on the implementation of the project to expand kindergarten capacity in Smederevo.
“At the initiative of the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, we had a very good meeting today, and the good news is that from 1 April we will launch the public procurement for the adaptation of a building that the City of Smederevo will designate, so that we can increase capacity and gain 270 new places for little ones. We will allocate around RSD 340 million including VAT to this project.
It will be an existing building that we will refurbish to the most modern standards, with all the facilities needed for a kindergarten to operate, and I hope that we will start the works during June.
Once we complete this building, most likely by the end of next year, we will be able to say that the waiting lists have been cleared completely and that we have really solved a big issue.
It is highly commendable that the City of Smederevo has already secured all the necessary documentation for the project, which covers the adaptation of an area of 2,500 square metres,” said Minister Glišić, praising the Mayor of Smederevo and her associates, with whom the line ministry has cooperated successfully on this project.

“Thanks to the responsible policy of our President, Aleksandar Vučić, the Government of the Republic of Serbia and all the ministries, good projects that mean a better life for all our citizens are being successfully implemented in the City of Smederevo.
Those of us in leadership positions must listen to the needs of citizens and delegate projects, because their interests, and especially those of children, always come first.
The City of Smederevo has received significant funds from the state, thanks to which many important projects have already been completed, some are under way and some are nearing completion.
The project to reconstruct the building that will house the new capacity of the Preschool Institution “Naša radost” is one of the finest projects to be carried out in Smederevo; it makes me particularly happy and it will be a source of pride for all of us,” the Mayor of Smederevo said after the meeting.
Answering journalists’ questions, Minister Glišić pointed out that the Ministry of Public Investment is focused on solving water supply problems in local governments across Serbia, including Smederevo, especially considering that in one part of its territory around 20,000 residents have no water supply network and rely on their own wells.
