Ahead of the start of the new school year, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, held a meeting with the Council of Head Teachers of primary and secondary schools in the city.
The main topic of discussion was the readiness of educational institutions for the start of the new school year.
It was noted that all schools are ready for a successful start of classes, as the necessary works were carried out during the summer holidays, which will continue to be the practice in future for safety reasons.
On this occasion, the Mayor stressed that investing in education remains one of the key priorities of the local government.

“Our aim is the continuous modernisation of schools and the creation of the best possible conditions for learning and working, for pupils and teaching staff alike.
Every investment in education is a direct investment in the future of our country and of Smederevo.
We will continue to support projects that improve the work and equipment of schools and the energy efficiency of school buildings, because every child in our city deserves modern and stimulating conditions in which to develop,” the Mayor said, calling on head teachers to submit their projects for the coming period in good time so that the local government, together with the line ministries, can provide adequate support for their implementation.
It was stressed that heating systems in all schools should be checked before the start of the heating season, so that the schools are fully ready for the coming winter.
The meeting also agreed on continued cooperation between the City and educational institutions throughout the school year, in order to respond quickly and efficiently to all the needs of schools.
