Organised by the “Urbana desetka” Association with the support of the City and the Athletics Club, the “Dunavska desetka” street race was held in Smederevo today for the second time, together with the first “Urbani polumaraton”.
Participants in the “Dunavska desetka” competed on a 10-kilometre course, while the “Urbani polumaraton” course covered a distance of 21 kilometres.
In the women’s “Dunavska desetka” race, Verica Đorđević defended last year’s title and took first place, Ivana Kostić came second and Marija Kastratović third.
First place in the “Urbani polumaraton” went to Marina Andrejević, second to Jelena Sretenović and third to Nina Grujić.
In the men’s competition, the fastest in the first race was Miloš Dragović, with second place going to Kristijan Stošić and third to Uroš Maksimović.
The winner of the “Urbani polumaraton” was Stanley Kiprito. Second and third places went to Miodrag Vukić and Dino Mulalić.
In addition to prizes for the top three in the men’s and women’s competitions, all competitors who successfully finished the race received medals, and the sponsors received certificates of appreciation.
Among those receiving plaques was the City of Smederevo. The plaque was presented to the Member of the City Council responsible for sport, Dragan Đorđević, who, congratulating the winners, said that the local government, led by the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, will continue to support this sporting event.
He expressed special thanks to the legendary Serbian athlete Olivera Jevtić, whose presence added lustre to today’s sporting event in Smederevo.
Promising to come to Smederevo again next year, the celebrated Serbian Olympian praised the organisers in her address and congratulated the winners.
Judging by the number of competitors who gathered and the citizens who welcomed them at the finish line, the “Dunavska desetka” and the “Urbani polumaraton” also contributed to a pleasant Sunday atmosphere in the city square in Smederevo.
