New contracts awarding grants for the purchase of rural houses with a garden plot were signed at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade under the programme run by the Ministry of Rural Welfare of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
The recipients of this assistance include two families from the territory of the City of Smederevo.
The contract was signed on behalf of the local government by Nemanja Ivošević, Member of the City Council responsible for social protection.
Through this programme, the Ministry supports young people who have decided to stay and live in the countryside and work in agriculture.
According to the Ministry of Rural Welfare, the project is delivering results: since it was launched, over 3,000 rural houses in Serbia have been brought back to life, and young people are increasingly interested in using this opportunity to get a roof over their heads.
