Contracts for this year’s co-financing of the programmes of 19 social and humanitarian organisations operating in the city were presented today at the City Administration of the City of Smederevo.
“The City of Smederevo is continuing to co-finance programmes in the field of social protection that help to improve the position of persons with disabilities.
This year, RSD 20 million has been allocated from the budget of the City of Smederevo for the programme activities of social and humanitarian organisations, two million more than last year.
In addition to financial support, the local government will continue to create an accessible, barrier-free environment everywhere, in order to make it easier for persons with disabilities to get around safely,” said the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, recalling that ramps and tactile paving had previously been installed at many locations in the city and a number of parking spaces provided.
From this summer, with the purchase of a pool lift chair, persons with disabilities will also be able to use the city swimming pool, it was announced at the presentation of the contracts.
Praising the dedication and work of the presidents and members of Smederevo’s social and humanitarian organisations and of Nemanja Ivošević, Member of the City Council responsible for social protection, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, invited the associations and organisations to send in suggestions that could contribute to a more comprehensive improvement in the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
