Today, on behalf of the City of Smederevo, the Mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Beč, signed a Contract with the Ministry of Rural Welfare on the award of grant funds for organising this year’s “Miholjski susreti sela” festival. It is worth noting how much of a priority rural welfare is for our country: today Minister Milan Krkobabić signed contracts with representatives of 95 local government units. A total of RSD 45.5 million has been allocated to local governments for this purpose, and the maximum grant that municipalities received to design the programme of this ethno and sports festival is up to RSD 500,000.00.
This year, as in the previous two, this cultural programme is planned to take place in three villages in the territory of the City of Smederevo. The first event is scheduled for the end of September in Skobalj, while the other two are planned for October, one of them in Lunjevac, with the closing programme in Osipaonica.
Programmes of this kind, which help rural communities come alive, are important because they help our villages show everything they have, from the traditions and customs that have sustained them to the modern way of life that reflects who people are today.
