Published

The President of the Provisional Authority of the City of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, today visited the residents of the Home for the Elderly in Smederevo, talking with them and presenting them with gifts.

According to the director, Ivana Matejić, this residential care institution for older people currently has 195 residents, 130 of whom are fully dependent on the care of staff, while 30 are semi-dependent and the rest are able to function independently.

They are cared for by 60 employees, 14 of whom are medical staff.

In addition to people originally from Smederevo, the Home for the Elderly in Smederevo also accommodates people from Kovin, Smederevska Palanka, Veliko Gradište, Požarevac, Leskovac and Belgrade.

The rooms are furnished to suit the needs and physical abilities of the residents, who also have the use of day rooms equipped with video and audio equipment, so that they can spend their free time in the most rewarding and fulfilling way possible.

Another building was recently constructed within the home, which, once the necessary permits and documentation have been obtained, will open to accommodate people with dementia.

The Smederevo residential home for older people officially began operating in January 1947.
