The restored “Bathing Fountain”, better known among the people of Smederevo as “Kupačica”, was ceremonially put back into operation in Smederevo today.
“Two months ago we announced here the start of reconstruction works on this oldest city fountain, built in 1958. As we said then, it was working again by the start of Smederevo Autumn, and from now on it will adorn this square.

When we restored the “Parnjača” fountain, we said that one of the main tasks of my team is to give all the fountains and public drinking fountains in the city back to the people of Smederevo, because they are places for gathering, socialising and growing up, and they live on as such in the memories of our older fellow citizens. We must give the younger generations that opportunity too.
The next fountain we will restore is the fountain in Carina, which has never worked. Every part of the city is important to us, but we will also think about the villages, because they too deserve places like this.
The famous city tavern “Grand”, which we want to give back to the people of Smederevo, has also been refurbished in recent days. That is the wish of our fellow citizens, and it will soon be handed over to one of Smederevo’s public enterprises to manage,” the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, said, recalling that the building housing the famous tavern was built as long ago as 1929.
