A public consultation was held at the City Administration in Smederevo on the Draft Decree on the Designation, and the Protection Study, of the Natural Monument “Šalinački lug”.
The public consultation was led by representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, and the participants also included representatives of the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia and PE “Srbijašume”, as well as natural and legal persons interested in the matter.
The Natural Monument “Šalinački lug” is a representative natural whole made up of 168 pedunculate oaks, estimated to be more than 200 years old, which can hardly be found anywhere else in Serbia in such large numbers, and several narrow-leaved ash trees.
The protected area covers 19 hectares, is recognisable for its biological and ecological value and has potential for the development of excursion tourism and sports and recreational tourism.
Public inspection of these documents is under way and can be carried out until 27 September 2025.
