League of Little Champions held in Smederevo

Published

The League of Little Champions, organised by the Smederevo Sports Association in cooperation with the Association for Preschool Sport and Physical Education of Serbia and the Sports Association of Serbia, with the support of the City of Smederevo, today brought together 560 boys and girls aged five to seven from Preschool Institution “Naša radost” for this sports competition in the city Sports Hall.

“The City of Smederevo will continue to support events like this. We need to turn more towards ourselves and the younger generations, because sport is not just competition, it is a way of life. We want our children to be healthy and to be the best in the professions they choose tomorrow. That is definitely also learned through sport, where they have the chance to socialise, to learn tolerance and to learn that everything you do in life takes effort,” said the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović, at the official opening of the event, noting that there were a hundred more participants this year than last year. Hoping that there will be even more of them next time and that similar events will also be organised outdoors in the future, she praised the organisers and congratulated the children on taking part, saying that, regardless of the results, they were all winners for her today.

Thanking the local government for its support in organising the League of Little Champions, which consists of a motor skills obstacle course and a relay race over 20,000 centimetres, Goran Vještica greeted the children, their parents and preschool teachers on behalf of the Association for Preschool Sport and Physical Education of Serbia.

All the children receive T-shirts and medals, and the President of the Smederevo Sports Association, Veselin Savić, also came to support the children.

This year the League of Little Champions is being held in 50 cities and municipalities in Serbia, and the final national competition will take place in Belgrade.
