With its educational programmes, practical training and focus on modern technologies, the school plays an important role in training qualified staff and in the development of the Smederevo economy.
The school dates back to 1899, when it was founded as the Crafts and Trade Evening School. Over more than a century, the institution has gone through various organisational and educational changes, adapting its programmes to developments in industry and technology and to the needs of the labour market. Since 1991 it has borne its current name: Smederevo Technical School.
Today the school provides secondary vocational education in several occupational fields, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and metalworking, transport and metallurgy. The educational programmes enable pupils to acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for various technical occupations, as well as for continuing their education at higher education institutions.
Practical training, delivered in specialist classrooms, laboratories and school workshops, is of particular importance in the school’s work. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical work, pupils become familiar with modern technologies, production processes and technical systems.
The school also develops cooperation with businesses, helping to link education with the needs of the local economy and creating opportunities for the professional development of young people.
