We remind citizens that property tax is paid quarterly, within 45 days of the start of the quarter. The second-quarter instalment for 2026 is due for payment on 15 May 2026. All citizens can settle their liabilities for the second quarter of 2026 by this date without incurring default interest. Default interest at an annual rate of 15.75% will be charged on all payments made after this deadline.
The amount of the tax liability for the second quarter is set out in the tax assessment ruling for 2026. Until the tax liability under the 2026 property tax assessment ruling falls due, tax is paid in advance instalments equal to the liability for the last quarter of 2025. When paying the liability for the second quarter of 2026, any outstanding debts should also be settled in order to avoid enforced collection proceedings.
Property taxpayers can check the status of their liabilities with the Department for Local Tax Administration every working day from 7:30 to 15:30.
